Merge the homeschool writing curriculum with the real-life activities!

We are not denying here! Homeschool writing curriculum is necessary for your kids’ as they learn the art of writing from it.

The lesson plans that are there in the curriculum gives you a roadmap to teaching your students the art of writing. The problem with the curriculum is that it is pretty straightforward so, the kids lose their interest. The real task is to retain their interest in the writing activity.
We’ve contacted many parents, but got to know this one thing from all of them “homeschool writing curriculums make their kids feel bored.”

Now, all parents have this one common problem, what is the solution?
The proper solution is that you include the writing activities. Don’t solely depend on the curriculum you have to use your own brain and decide upon it. The best way to teach writing is that you get your kids’ involved in specific activities.

1.      Be a bit flexible & make the lessons interesting
After teaching them a lesson, ask your kids to write what they learned from the lesson. Get involved with them and participate. You can make a quiz as well, but in return let your kids make a quiz for you. Of course, it seems like a fair deal. They will feel that you are taking utmost interest and then the whole process will no longer look daunting. The interest level will increase.

2.      Journaling will make it interesting
No matter what the subject is, make it a habit to ask about it from your kids. Like you can make a journal and after every lesson in math, science, geography or anything, ask your kids what they learned from the last lesson.

Give them a free hand and let them write what they want to. The journal that you will keep in for personal evaluation. Don’t try to grade your kid after it as it won’t be something fun for your kids, but will convert more into the race.

3.      Ask them to tell you a story
Every time, you tell a story to your kids. Now is the time that you change places and ask your kid to tell a story. Don’t create boundaries for your kids’ let their imagination flow. You never know, how awesome stories your kids start making. Over the period they will get proficient at it. The imagination will help them in writing amazing stories.
Who knows, this way you train a future novelist or a scriptwriter?

4.      Ask your kids about the topic
Before you head on to the lesson for the day, ask your kids about the topic you are going to start. Maybe your kid has heard about the topics somewhere; perhaps he knows something about it. When you ask about a topic, it makes a kid feel that he is valued and his information is valued.

Sometimes children have more information about a specific topic in comparison to what we think of. Some parents make the lessons so dull for a kid that he tries to escape from it every time.

5.      Summarize the main points of the lesson
Sometimes, your kid fails to understand the lesson, or he forgets things. The best way to teach him is to summarize the whole lesson. Once you tell him the summary, ask him to write what you told. This way you’ll get to know your kids’ view on the particular lesson, yet you will figure out whether he grasped the concept or not.

Summary of chapters will improve the writing skills and add to the vocabulary log as well.

6.      Competition
Some are born competitive while some become competitive with time. If you feel that your kid has this craving to win every time, utilize it. A kid who wants to win will do anything to conquer, to be at the first position, he just won’t compromise.

Challenge your kids and involve them in the writing contests going in your city or around your neighborhood. You’ll see your kid taking an utmost interest in the contest and will try level best to win the competition.

If you have kids in your neighborhood, let them join the clan and arrange a writing competition amid them. Surely, your kid will try the level best to win the race.
